Checkouts

Connect collects checkouts (a.k.a. abandoned carts) from different sales channels and creates an overview of all available data. This data can subsequently be used in other connectors, such as Spotler Mail+, to mail or otherwise engage contacts.

In this article, you will learn more about:

Checkouts in Connect

In Connect, a checkout is a bundle of data containing product and contact information at the moment of capture in the source platform. A checkout is assigned a checkout status by the platform where it originates (for example, Shopify or Lightspeed) or by Connect, depending on certain conditions. Depending on this checkout status, actions will automatically be performed. These actions can include sending checkouts to other connectors for further processing.

Checkout Statuses

In Connect, the following checkout statuses are recognised:

Connect Status Explanation
Pending Checkout is created, but not yet marked Abandoned or Completed by the source platform.
Abandoned Checkout is not completed.
Completed Checkout is completed (has led to an order).
Recovery Started A recovery action has been performed on this checkout (please note that it depends on the platform whether we can display this status. Not all platforms disclose this information).
Converted A checkout with the previous status Recovery Started or Conversion started has led to a related order in Spotler Connect.
Unknown When we cannot determine the status of the checkout.

Updating Checkout Statuses

By default, the checkout status as displayed in the source platform is leading. The only exception is the status Completed. When Spotler Connect detects a related order to a checkout, the checkout status will be changed to Completed (or Converted if the last known status was Recovery Started), even if the source platform indicates a different status.

Checkouts in WooCommerce

WooCommerce is the most widely used e-commerce plugin on Wordpress. Although WooCommerce contains an API for checkouts, checkout capture is not included in the WooCommerce plugin. Therefore, Connect has created a custom plugin to capture checkouts in WooCommerce and export them to Connect.

Settings for Checkout

Settings for checkouts are limited as most details are handled in the source platform. However, within Connect settings it is possible to determine:

  • For importing checkouts:
    • Whether to import checkouts
    • The frequency of checkout import
  • For exporting checkouts:
    • Whether to export checkouts
    • The checkout statuses to filter on for exporting checkouts

Further details about connector settings can be found on the Connector settings details page.

Filter checkout statuses

In the tabbed bar at the top of the screen, checkouts can be filtered based on their status in Connect. Only statuses that have at least one result are shown.

Clicking the Filter button opens advanced filtering options. These filters include options to filter by source connectors, related connectors, and the total checkout amount.

Bulk edit selections

After creating a selection, checkboxes can be used to select checkouts for editing. Use the checkbox in the header of the table to select all checkouts on the page or all checkouts in the selection. The Filter button will then change to Bulk actions, offering the option to manually retrieve (update) or delete the selected checkouts.

Import checkouts manually

Using the manual import feature, a single checkout can be imported at a time.
