How to add the Spotler solution in Dynamics?

We offer 2 possible ways to implement the Spotler Solution for your Microsoft Dynamics 365 environment:

What is a solution in Dynamics?

A solution is like a package that contains customizations and configurations for your Dynamics system. Spotler has created a ‘managed solution’ to prepare and config your Dynamics system to properly connect to Spotler and show data from Spotler at several entities in Dynamics.

Besides the addition of some custom tables (entities) on the background in order to populate Spotler data, the solution includes things like the visibility for users of a ‘Spotler tab’ on several entities, like the organization card and the contact card:

And the availability of a toggle for each marketing list to keep it synchronized with Spotler:

The solution does not affect your existing data and can be easily removed if you no longer wish to use it. Your Dynamics system will then be completely restored to its original state.

Data entities used by the solution

The solution connects to the following data entities in the Dynamics environment:

  • Account
  • Campaign Activity
  • Contact
  • Lead
  • Marketing List
  • Spotler Digital Activities
  • Spotler Event Type

This is specified in the installed solution. To view this, go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Solutions > Managed (tab) and search for 'Spotler Marketing Cloud' and click on it:

 

Option 1 (Preferred) - Download the Spotler Solution

You can download the Spotler Marketing Cloud connector from the Microsoft AppSource: Download Connector.

  • You click Get it now
  • The Power Platform Admin Center opens up
  • Select your environment (in our example Spotler Connect) and Agree to terms & conditions and click Install

Option 2 - Import the Spotler Solution in your Dynamics system

Contact your Spotler partner to get access to the .zip file that contains the solution package.

Go to the Settings of your Dynamics system and click on Solutions in the menu on the left.
Click on ‘Import solution’ on the top of the screen and import the Spotler Solution you have just downloaded in Step 1 and follow the procedure.

After the import the Spotler Solution appears in your managed solutions overview.
