Get started: See what's synced

You are currently in step 1 See what's synced of the Get started checklist. To feel in control of your data connections, it’s important to understand what data is synced in Spotler Connect. In this article, you’ll learn where to find your operational connectors, how to read data overviews, and how to use timelines to better understand changes in your data.

Step 1. Explore the operational connectors

First, you will go into one of your operational connectors. These define which integrations are connected and what data is allowed or available to sync between them. You will find your connectors on the dashboard of Spotler Connect, or from the Connectors module.

Inside a connector, you see the configuration options for this integration. Scroll down and you will find the data types, such as Contacts, Products and Orders. These data types differ depending on the kind of connector. By clicking on these data types, you expand the view and see toggles that determine the synchronization of data between the specific connector and Spotler Connect. If something appears, or doesn't appear, in a data record, this configuration is usually the first place to check. In the example below, we show the Contacts data type.

  • Connectors - this page gives you a clear overview of all the available connectors, and more details per specific connector.
  • Data models - learn more about the fields of certain data types. For instance, of a product.

Step 2. Go into a data module

Now that you know where the syncing starts, let's look at what actually gets synced. In Spotler Connect, synced data is structured into modules. Depending on your setup and what connectors are added to your account, as decribed in the step above, this can include Orders, Products, Organisations, Contacts and more. These modules include the synchronized data objects that are configured in the connector settings.

Let's say that a customer is asking for the status of their order. The first thing you want to do is go into the Orders module. Here you find an overview of all orders that are synced with Spotler Connect, and the option to search for orders.

In this overview, you also have the ability to sort on relevant fields to quickly spot which records were changed most recently. With the Filter button, you can also quickly filter on the source or related connectors of a data record. This shows you which system updated a specific record, or where a record originated from.

Step 3. Open a single data record

If you found the specific order from the customer asking, you can look into it by clicking on the order. In our example, we clicked on order #1026. Here you see more information of that single data record.

This overview shows all the specific details and channels related to that single order in Connect. It also includes a timeline view of the data record that shows what specific activity took place, what specific data was changed by which system, what errors occur (if they occured), or if changes were sent to other connected systems.

The timeline is very useful as it shows all activities related to the data record. That means you will find a timeline in each data record of every data type module.

Here you can see what changed, when it was changed and which system triggered the change. Whether you're working with orders, products, contacts or organisations: the timeline is your main reference point. Within each timeline, you also have the option to add comments. Your initials will be shown next to the added comment.

Same structure for other data modules

We went through the steps of looking into a single order, but the same structure goes for all data modules, such as Contacts, Organisations and Activities. First you have an overview of the data type, then you go into a single record.

💡TIP: from within a contact data record, you can also find related information from other modules if there is any. For example, you can see and click on related orders from a certain contact, to find more information on that order.
