If both your webshop backend and Spotler Connect are syncing Purchase events to Spotler Activate, this can lead to duplicate orders. This often happens when your backend is already sending data, and you later connect Spotler Connect to the same system, causing both systems to send order data independently.
Example of two orders with different ID and different time, but in fact this is the same order:
To decide which solution fits your situation, first check:
- Which system sends the most complete and accurate order data?
- Which system sends data fastest—your backend (e.g. after payment) or Spotler Connect (e.g. during checkout)?
Once you’ve assessed this, pick the matching option below:
- Option 1: Disable Spotler Connect Purchase events
- Option 2: Disable Purchase backend events
- Option 3: Align both orderIDs using SourceNumber
Option 1: Disable Spotler Connect events
If your backend system provides complete and timely order data, you can disable outgoing Purchase events from Spotler Connect to avoid duplication.
- Go to Spotler Connect > Settings > Connectors > Spotler Activate
- Find the stream that sends orders to Spotler Activate and select No
Optional: if you don't need orders in Spotler Connect, you can also turn off the import of these orders in Spotler Connect. Go to Settings > Connectors > (System that imports orders, e.g. your webshop connector).
In this example the Lightspeed webshop is importing orders:
Option 2: Disable backend events
If Spotler Connect provides more valuable or faster order events, you can choose to disable the backend integration instead. Adjust this in the synchronisation between your webshop and Spotler Activate.
Option 3: Align both orderIDs
If you prefer to keep using both sources, you can align their orderIDs using a custom datarule. Please contact support if you need help creating a custom datarule. We can provide a JSON template you can import for that specific kind of datarule.
