In Connect, contacts are one of the most synchronised data objects. A contact can contain e-commerce data, such as ordered products and total spending. In B2B platforms, a contact usually contains contact information and additional information about events that might have happened to this contact. Everything that can be stored on a contact can be found in the Connect Contact data model.
In this article you will learn more about:
Basic requirements for a contact
A contact must have at least an email address or a phone number. Without one of these values, the contact will not be created in Connect and, therefore, will not be synchronised through any other connector. If a contact cannot be created, you will receive a notification.
Contact statuses
Contacts can have one of three statuses. These statuses are part of the contact data, and while they are not used in Connect to initiate or stop actions on contacts, several external systems can use the contact status as a cue to group or initialise automations.

Contact overview
This section provides an overview of the various features available for managing contacts in Connect. Below is a table of content for the items related to contact overview:
- Filter contact statuses
- Advanced filter on contacts
- Bulk edit selections
- Import contacts manually
- See contact details
Filter contact statuses
Contacts can be filtered based on their status in Connect. The tabbed bar at the top of the screen shows only statuses with at least one result.
Advanced filter on contacts
Clicking the Filter button opens advanced filtering options. These filters include options to filter by source connectors, related connectors, and total spend.
Bulk edit selections
After creating a selection, checkboxes can be used to select contacts for bulk editing. The checkbox in the header of the table allows selection of all contacts on the page or within the selection. The Filter button then changes to Bulk actions, offering options to update or delete the selected contacts.
Import contacts manually
A single contact can be imported using the manual import feature.
Import all contacts
You can also (re-)import all contacts from a specific connector, making it possible to trigger the synchronisation for a stream.
See contact details
Clicking on a contact will take the user to the contact detail view.
